The Senior Finance Director is responsible for:

  1. Overseeing the financial strategy for the organisation;
  2. Developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for all financial management functions to deliver on strategy;
  3. Providing leadership, direction and management of the finance team.

Oversee the financial strategy for the organization, including: 

  • Lead long-term organisational financial planning and oversee maintenance of all financial models.
  • Ensure financial projections are aligned with programmatic and organisational goals.  

 Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures for all financial management functions to deliver on strategy, including:

  • Lead organisation-wide budgeting processes that aligns with organisational planning and capacity assessment, including supporting Board approval for budgets. 
  • Ensure measures of financial health and resilience are in place, where the organisation’s financial performance relative to our objectives are regularly monitored and reported to the executive team and Board of Directors, and to develop and implement course correction plans where required. 
  • Ensure financial information is available to budget owners to enable effective financial management and to guide key decisions, including resource allocation, portfolio management, target-setting, etc. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the policies and procedures for all financial management functions globally, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), contractual, and legal requirements, effectively and clearly communicating potential legal and financial risks in a timely manner. 

 Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance team in matters related to finance and accounting, grants and contracts administration, and facilities administration, including overseeing:

  • The organisation-wide annual, external audit and tax filings and ensure completion in a timely, efficient manner.  
  • The management of financial accounting and grant and contract administration systems. 
  • Efforts to identify and evaluate opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping, and reporting. 
  • Processing of grants and contracts in a timely manner, in coordination with the Head of Grants and the Program Leadership Team.  
  • All payment and receipt processes, including grants and contracts. 
  • and manage cash activities, short-term investments (in line with Tara’s investment policy), and banking relationships. 

 People Management & Leadership responsibilities, including: 

  • Providing leadership, direction, and management of the finance team
  • Promoting a culture of excellence, service orientation, high performance, and continuous improvement 
  • Providing direct supervision to the finance team 
  • Mentoring staff and oversee their professional development 
  • Demonstrating Tara Values in every action 
  • Actively participating in Leadership Team activities 

As and when required other responsibilities and projects will be allocated by line management in consultation with the post holder.
